Photography and Rehab

The great thing about taking photos when you walking for rehab is that you just have to walk that little bit further to grab that better picture instead of going , that hurts time to turn back . Even if you have to move the vehicle three or four times to make the distance.

todays beach walk. I missed the beaches here
great cliff face formations
river outlet
mullet swimming under causeway
time to try some salt water fishing

(Thylarctos plummetus) Breeding season

(Thylarctos plummetus) or commonly known as the Australian Drop Bear and its the start of their breeding season. This post is not recommended for children.

As to whether or not drop bears are real or a subspecies of koala. I don’t feel that I am adequately qualified to have an opinion on the subject.

Van Update – Sink

I now have a sink and after4 hours of dicking around with several different plumbing and hardware stores also have the correct fittings to plumb in the waste water tank. Still no tap but after months and months of using paper plates and bowls an actual sink was a head rush. Hoping to have the remainder of the timber work finished the week after next.

sink fitted
reducer connections with an internal connector to achieve the right external circumference to match the hose
the splash-back colour Ive chosen and as yet to send away for
finally plumbed for grey water

Magpies And Me

I don’t know what it is with Magpies and Me but where ever I sop I seem to attract them. Ever since starting to feed them back at my old residence, they would start swooping in and sitting on the hand rail when ever they saw me to flying into the backyard when I started living in my van. Now as I travel around they seem to be attracted to me. Today they were wandering into the van for a peek.

Sorry about the mess, everything just went cu*t-up from a taking sharp corner

River Walk

Found a nice place for my morning rehab walk. I was trying to to find a place along the river where I could get down to the water to try fishing. Too nicer day not to. There were a few spots where I could make it down the bank but no chance of making it back up with the knee. Great little track to walk along. Masses of Correllas squawking over head the whole way. Pitty the sun wasn’t out , when it gets over head the red in the sand stone cliffs really stands out.

start of hike
I love the old heritage buildings in the area
parked by the river
surrounded by peppercorn trees
Kookaburra posing for me
nice place to rest
water id darker than usual. Most of the time you can see to the bottom
walking track
sandstone cliff face
correllas every where
corellas posing
other end of the walkway
sandstone formations
cliff face erosion
my first you-tube vid. the sound of thousands of corellas squawking overhead during my hike

Melancholy Traveling

Ive been getting to know my home town all over again. Lots of memories flowing back. So much has changed here. Don’t know how long I’ll be staying , camping spots are becoming harder and harder to find. Its like seeing things again for the first time and yet I’m felling very melancholy all the same. Its been good to catch up with friends. I always try and make an effort to call atleast every fortnight. Thx guys for the use of storage, showers, spare fuel, etc. I tried walking around the botanical gardens and ended up on pain killers for most of the day. It seems easier to walk on the saw dust trails than over the harder surfaces. I’m pushing the knee but its not improving. Having a break day before back to the gym in the morning.

the coffee shops here are great, even a micro brewy
my favorite place in the city the botanical gardens
the van is 6m long by 2.7 high to give an idea of the tree size
Im getting my ashes spread here

Full Time Van Life

Ive finally transitioned to full time van life. No more staying in a mates backyard and living out of the house with all the luxuries. Still trying to get used to a routine. 5 days a week at the gym for workouts but also for showers, protein powder with fruit breakfasts and cold meat with salad lunches. Haven’t been home for three years. A lot has changed. Start the remaining timber work on the van next week. Its hard finding things to do all day.Trying to do as much walking as possible to build up the knee. Ill get the bike back on the road soon, to fill in a few hours, the walking is seizing up the leg.

Finding different camping spots of a night is harder in the cities. Moving every day so I don’t get kicked out of a spot.

middle of city under the Morton bay fig trees
beach camping
along the river bike ways

Van life TIP number 1

carry your own TP most of the public toilets either only give you 3 pieces as per the automatic versions or are usually out. Another is to carry your own soap and hand sanitizer . its harder and harder to find soap in public toilets especially in Tasmania.
