Slightly larger than my military and hiker models. I mainly purchased it for the main blade not having serrations.

Ive got a grab a fire ant shortly too. However no corkscrew on this model Ill have to figure out some way. Maybe over the Philips head.
The first generation to have worse living standards than their predecessors
Interesting Perspective.
My view point is all this depends on what the emergency is, if you have any where to go, etc.
Id have enough stored at home and stay in place until its clear to leave. Where Im located the highways would be choked within hours. After that first tier of supplies fails which it will Id rely on mobility. However you can carry only so much food, fuel etc.All this would depend on having a piece of land with good soil to plant in and a water supply. When my meds run out Im done. I try and have 6 months of meds stored. Mobility in vehicles depends on fuel ? If Ive stored 4 jerry cans of fuel thats a full tank of gas along with whats already in the tank. That gets me from one capital city to another. Then it depends on taking from other vehicle fuel tanks and if the pump tanks can be accessed.
Id been looking around for a traditional looking haversack for a while. Even tried making an oilcloth one myself. There were just little things I didn’t like with the designs. Mainly zips. I wanted it all brass buckles and leather over heavy canvas. The only two that came close were the Blackbird by Blackie Thomas and the Campcraft Outdoors. The shipping from overseas being astronomical. So I decided to modify a Frost River Book Bag knapsack.

Frost River don’t make a haversack and no longer make custom designs, the book bag was the same size as a standard haversack.
