My backyard now a carpet of Purslane

Purslane, Portulaca oleracea, is a common weed that packs a lot of nutrition. It has the highest Vitamin A of any leafy vegetable and the highest Omega-3 content of any plant. Learn how to identify this plant to make sure you aren’t picking the poisonous look-alike, spurge.

I haven’t been of the right mindset of late to get back into bushcraft with two surgery’s coming up. However one of my careers mentioned he liked eating the weed in my backyard on salads but couldn’t remember the name of it and that started me looking back into edible weeds. We finally figured out what it was. Purslane ! Most of the backyard is covered with it. Looks much better than the dead grass. Under this rental lease I’m not allowed to have a garden, dog or anything else other than dead grass and mud. One of my regular careers is from Palestine and is a great source of edible weed knowledge. There’s also Mallow, Thistle and Plantain.
