Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a psychological theory that is supposed to describe how we thrive within the human condition. But in late stage Capitalism many of us are trapped in survival mode while struggling with existential dread. In this brutally honest video I attempt to tear down the pyramid scheme we call modern life. According to Maslow, you need food, shelter, and safety before you can even think about finding purpose or meaning. Everyone’s burned out, anxious, and wondering why “gratitude journaling” isn’t fixing their feelings of despair. The answer? You can’t breathe deeply when you can’t pay rent. This video takes aim at the collapsing system of basic needs—housing, healthcare, food—and explains why millions of people feel like failures when the system was never designed for them to succeed.
